EarPlanes Flight Ear Protection for Air Pressure Discomfort – 1 Pair March 6th, 2010

My ears/sinuses are extremely sensitive to pressure changes. I use these EarPlanes when we fly. They definitely work. The biggest problem for me is that they are so painful to leave in my ears. The hard rubber ridges are not comfortable. After about 30 minutes I just want to rip these out of my ears. But, they are the only product that definitely works, so I put up with it.
I also use the “Flents Flitemate” brand of ear air pressure plugs. The Flents are much, much more comfortable. But, for me, they do not work as well for significant pressure changes. So, I may use my Flents during takeoff, but I ALWAYS use my EarPlanes for descent. Or, if I have more sinus congestion than normal, I would use EarPlanes.
By the way, if you are new to using EarPlanes for ear air pressure regulation — you do not necessarily need to leave the plugs in during the entire flight. Just put them in at take off and keep them in until you reach cruising altitude. Then you can take them out. But, if you notice turbulence or the pilot saying they need to go down for a bit, put the plugs back in until the cruising stabilizes again. And, of course, put them back in as soon as the plane starts its descent. Of course, everyone had different sinuses, so you may need to leave them in the entire flight. But, for me, they are so painful to leave in I have to compromise.
Oh, also — I use the EarPlanes over and over forever (until I lose them). I have never noticed a problem from re-using them.
Overall, I highly recommend this product. A must if you have sinus/ear issues. Buy these and a pair of the more comfortable Flents Flitemates and you are set.
